Hungarian Pierogi Casserole
This dish is my Grandmothers recipe so gooey, cheesy, and delicious. I now make this for Easter, everyone loves it!! Try it, you will not regret it!
1 1/2 bags wide egg noodles (cooked and drained)
1 large container of small curd cottage cheese
3 sticks of butter (cook on medium heat on stove top with minced onions) turn off heat when onions are cooked. Stirring often so it doesn’t burn.
1 large onion (chopped fine)
3 large potatoes (Peeled, cooked in boiling water til soft, drained)
1/2 shredded munster cheese
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 cup onion straws
In large bowl mix all of the above ingredients then add to large casserole baking dish. Add salt and pepper. Cover with foil, bake at 350′ for 45 minutes. Take foil off to get golden brown and bubbly for about another 10 minutes. Serve as side dish with ham, or sausage. It is amazing!
Tip: you can add kielbasa, ham, peas, apples or mushrooms, green onions, red peppers as well.
